The Commitment
Competition company dancers are required to attend classes with minimal absences, and to participate in rehearsals for a minimum of two hours per week, with additional rehearsal time ahead of competitions.
At Groundworks, commitment extends beyond attendance. It is a shared responsibility to the process, to the team, and to the growth of each dancer as both an artist and an individual.
Competition Genres
Dancers may choose to participate in all or select genres, including contemporary, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, and/or musical theater.
Each genre offers a different lens through which dancers develop versatility, performance quality, and artistic voice.
Performances
Competition company members participate in the Winter Showcase and a minimum of five additional competitions. Four events are typically convention competitions, with an additional stage-only performance. In Season VIII our performing company will hit the stage a total of eight times during our season.
Competition company begins with regular rehearsals in August and completes its competition schedule before the end of the academic year.
Auditions for Season IX
Confidential Video Auditions are now being accepted.
In person auditions will be held August 1, after summer intensive.
